Let it fall. It rained back then for days at the time. The world swallowed a solid sorrow when they'd lost him. For Josh, it was always raining. Losing someone who you'd grown so close to, it chilled the heart. Though, his own arrogance prevented him from doing anything about it. He just carried about his day to day as if Xavier meant nothing to him. Yeah, he'd heard. And, he wasn't the only loss either. Jean, Jean Grey. She was a loss, too. And Scott as well. The list of casualties seemed unending. But, Jean and Scott meant something to him, not everything.
He was everything. He was the pinnacle of change in the hearts of humans. He was the dawning of a new era, one where it was okay to be a mutant. No... he just couldn't. Cold chills ran down his skin as he watched the event unfold night in and night out. It would happen, he would scream, then he'd wake up. But what was more bizarre, was what happened after. It was like, he was calling him. He'd have a feeling of regret deep in him, but then when he woke, it'd felt like such a dream. He snapped awake. "Not again!" He screamed, running his fingers through his own bedridden hair. "Why does this keep happening?" Standing up and stretching, he made way to the window.
You know what you must do. That's what the voice in his head kept telling him. Boy, was that an understatement. But, he couldn't figure out what the voice was talking about. Well, not until he'd seen Storm. She seemed to be handling the school well. "And the students, they've become accustomed?" She sighed. "No one becomes accustomed to death, Joshua. What about you? I know he was like, well like a father to you." He frowned. "Indeed, he was." He said, and that was all he'd said for the rest of the conversation.
Most of the rest of his talk with her were strictly politics, one big blah. It wasn't exactly on his priority list.
He dreamt one night of resurrecting the lost souls of the battle, but never really put much thought into it. Last time he'd healed someone of half death, he nearly put himself in a coma. That absolutely could not happen. But the voice came to him, every night, sometimes more times than one. He'd almost decided to do it based on the fact that maybe it'd get the voice out of his head. He'd finally decided to do something. And, he knew just where to start.
"And that is why I'm here." He sternly spoke to himself, trying not to spook himself out of it. Knocking on the mansion door, he knew the SMMO had the facilities necessary that he would need before the ceremony, and after. He cleared his throat, trying not to get too impatient. The seconds flew by, and they felt like minutes. "Well, at least it feels nice out." The man smiled. He needed sunlight to be in full power. For some reason, the sun was a link to his power. Perhaps a healing light? Maybe it had some healing properties that mankind knew nothing of yet.
"Can I help you, sir?"
A young maid stood at the door. "Yes you may. I'm here to join. And I'll have no one sign me but Rogue Eagle herself." A man came to the door. "And what makes you think we need you?" The man huffed. Attitude. I like it! With a stern look, he retorted. "Because I'm the best damn mutant in the world. I've no business with you. I wish to speak with Rogue Eagle."

She’d been told of the gold newcomer the instant he’d set foot in the camp. Anyone could walk in, but he was watched carefully. She’d had Richard answer the door, but when the man spoke she chuckled. She tapped Richard, and the tall man stepped back. Time for a little game. ”And what makes you think that Rogue Eagle want’s to talk to you hm? She’s a busy woman, running a Military Instalation. Why the HELL do you think she’d want to speak with some man who just walked off the street?” she asked, playing the part that usually was Maria’s job.
She needed some fun after all. She watched, and waiter, her gaze level, and rather rude, as if saying what the hell do you think you are? She was dressed in her military uniform, though it was more camo, and less dress, than anything else, and she had made sure to grab a different shirt that didn’t say CAPTAIN on it. Nor did it have her name. But she was ok with that. She watched him carefully, waiting for anything.

"Fiery temper, I love it!" She looked as ravishing as they said. Then he chuckled. "A military installation? It seems you are quite a bit short on people." He looked at her in a less joking matter. "I did not come from off the streets." The venom seeped from his tongue. "We both know that my skills will come in handy, and it's best not to forget why those skills are necessary."
He felt the sun on his back, tickling his senses. The woman stared at him, nearly aghast. "I'm Joshua Foley, but you can call me Elixir. I'll be your new mutant." Grinning from ear to ear, he awaited his invitation inside. However, patience wasn't exactly his strongest trait.
He welcomed himself inside, dodging contact from the others. "Now, where do I sign?"

Hm. He seemed to know who she was. Which bothered the beautiful woman. ”You have yet to see Temper boy.” She let her eyes narrow as she eyed him, and then blocked his entry into the head quarters. ”I never said you could enter.” her voice was hard, and booked no deviation. She kept her dark eyed locked on his.
”We don’t need a cocky asshole who thinks he owns the world, weieather you came of the street or not, or you have powers that we could use.” her voice was angry. The Instalation was pretty big. Two hundred, about one thirty of them mutants, the rest were well… humans. But friendly humans. Brother’s and Sisters, mother’s, father’s, cousins, uncles, of mutants. They were normal Human’s who wanted to help. So she let them hang out. Like the woman who’d greeted Elixer. A human. Though she was a secretary not a maid, and the ‘mansion’ was a large brownish building, rather blocky.
”So give me a good reason Mr. Foley, To let you into this building, and into the SMMO. Because I only take the best, and that mean’s those who can take orders.” she stayed put. Try to move her, Richard would take it as violent, and Air was not something you wanted to have forcing you back. Nor was fire for that matter. She felt Markus come up behind her, and just stand there, hi full seven feet just kind of standing there. Many would call him body builder, but he was naturally built that way. And she waited. The smallest of the group. Then Maria apeared, and stood in the door way, just behind her, her red hair brilliant in the sun sneeking through the door.

Okay, now you're just stepping on toes. She'd blocked him from entrance. ”You have yet to see Temper boy.” And what exactly did that mean, he wondered. Maybe she had deeper meaning behind that shoulder high formation. ”I never said you could enter.” He laughed lightly. "I never really asked, now did I?"
Whether she liked it or not, he wouldn't allow her to impede on his penance. ”We don’t need a cocky asshole who thinks he owns the world, whether you came of the street or not, or you have powers that we could use.” He snarled a bit. She wouldn't impose on him if she knew what was good for her. But, alas, that was a mutant's curse: Never knowing when to keep your mouth shut."Oh, contrarily. You could use me quite a bit, and I suggest we talk in private if the matter were to go further." He said sharply. "Even as the witty banter of good vs evil thrills me so, this is not a conversation for the light of heart. And, it would be easier if less know of my situation. Let's just say that my gifts can be of service."
He could see that his words were starting to make sense. The gears began to shift behind the illusions in her eyes. ”So give me a good reason Mr. Foley, To let you into this building, and into the SMMO. Because I only take the best, and that mean’s those who can take orders.” He took in these words for a moment, watching all of them gather around the door, as if he were going to try to force his way through. He could easily rip the life force out of all of them at the same time, if he were to so choose. He laughed. Then grew dangerously serious all in the same instant. "Xavier." These were the last words he spoke.

Victoria snarled at his voice. Channeling Logan now are we? She asked herself. She glared at him. ”Not making me want to let you into my building.” she snapped, though she let a small flame appear behind her, and the fire flickered at the group behind her, and they flitted away, each one stepping back.
”All the mutants who stand there, tell me that all the time. You are no different.” she wasn’t afraid of him. Even if he did have some fantastic power that could kill her, her body would keep her safe. In extream situations she jump started. Her healing power working overdrive. Hence why she couldn’t die. She watched the man before her, anger flickering through her eyes. The fire ready to bite.
Then he spoke one word. She snorted. ”Xavier. Not exactly a common name. What about it? Just because you were an X-Men doesn’t mean you get special treatment. Infact it could make it harder on you. Being that the X-men get in the SMMO’s way, often.” she said softly, her gaze level. She really didn’t care. The only Xavier she knew was tall blond, and quite young. Though she did know who he was talking about.

”Xavier. Not exactly a common name. What about it? Just because you were an X-Men doesn’t mean you get special treatment. Infact it could make it harder on you. Being that the X-men get in the SMMO’s way, often.”
Disrespect. Honestly? Josh would like to rip the life force out of her at exactly this moment. But, it doesn't happen that way. A flare shot through him, a rage so chaotic stewed that his skin immediately turned from golden to black. "Do not belittle his name in such a nature." He said coldly. It mattered not to him whether he was belittled by Rogue Eagle. But to disrespect the name of the Professor, he could not take. "Either you're a complete failure as a mutant organization or you are playing games." He glared. "And, I've lost my taste for your ridiculous assumptions."
It was fun and games before, but now he was ready to start a war. "If it weren't for him, none of you would be here like this. Your lives wouldn't be the same. But you choose to stand here and spit on the name of the greatest man, human and mutant alike, that the world has ever seen."
He barely used tact, ever. But this was beyond that. The fury that brewed inside him was nothing he'd ever felt before. But he had to do this. This was his penance. "You're no fool, Rogue Eagle. You know exactly who and what I'm talking about." He took a deep breath. "And I can do this with you, or without you. But if I have to do this without you, you wouldn't be able to utilize my skills to fit your needs, now would you?" He slowly shaded back to golden. "After you help me, I'll do whatever it is you need. Consider me a personal slave after this. But we both know the difference between right and wrong, and there's a wrong that needs to be righted."

She arched an eyebrow when he spoke. ”How do you know I’m talking about Charles Xavier? Hm?” she asked softly. ”I may be belittling someone else, with the same last name. Don’t assume you know everything.” she said calmly, watching the skin go from gold to black. Well that was differen’t. ”Isn’t it you who’s assuming? I know where I stand. The X-Men make trouble, and trie to fix it, then once they think everything’s done, it’s SMMO’s job to finish it up. Hence why we are Allied. And I do know another Xavier. He’s an ass. Professor X? Never met him. So I can’t say anything bad about him. You just jump to conclutions. Not so great for someone who can change their skin color.” she said softly.
”I never spit. It’s unlady like. And you keep assuming that Charles Xavier would mean everything. SMMO was created Five years ago. Long before Charles Xavier really came out into the spot light. The military has been using Mutants for years. Ask Wolverine. Here? We fit in. At least a bit. We protect the normal humans around us. We have a use here. Charles Xavier showed that we have uses outside the military. That’s all he did. My life wouldn’t be any different. He didn’t save me when I was thirteen and blew up a building. Nor when I was seventeen and told that either I went to jail or joined the military. So you may love him, but he’s just another mutant to me. And keep those opinions to yourself, Mr Foley.” her voice was even, and relaxed. She didn’t fear him. She watched him now. Curious. Who was he? And why did he think he was so important? She was a busy woman, and infact if he didn’t prove to her in the next few moments that he was worth it, she was gonna have to say no, and let him figure out what ever he wanted.
Then he spoke of slavery. That brought the fire into light, as it flickered across her body, and gave her a bit more hight. Her eyes went from brown, to red, and she leveled a very angry stare at him. ”Do I LOOK like someone who uses slaves? Hm? You aren’t in the 1800’s boy. And how the HELL should I let you join the SMMO when you have an alterior motive? HM? Why would I trust you to do ANYTHING if your planning something else?” a hand on her shoulder, made her turn, glaring. It was Richard, he’d slipped up next to her. ”Captain.” she took a deep breath. Richard’s one word calmed her down. Though not much. The fire didn’t go out, but her eyes faded to their normal dark brown. ”I don’t trust you, Mr. Foley, and something tells me I shouldn’t. Do you have anything to say to that?”

He listened intently to her words, but felt threatened in no way. Her words were like mingle chat, piercing into his brain. This is getting nowhere. He thought to himself, disappointed. He'd have better chances putting his head through a wall. "He may not have been important to you, but he is to me." And with that, he began to walk away. If he couldn't get the aid of the SMMO, then he'd look elsewhere. It was quite obvious that neither the government nor Rogue Eagle were willing to help, but he was not going to give up.
The stench of defeat reeks. He was quite disappointed in himself. Was it his own selfishness and pride that stood in the way? Did he create his own failure? He ran his fingers through his hair as he dropped down the steps. One foot in front of the other, right? "It was a good effort, I suppose." He mumbled under his breath. The wind picked up, blowing through the golden flakes in his hair. He turned on his heels for a moment. "I apologize if I have offended you. But we are obviously getting nowhere, and I don't have much time." He said, encouragingly.
The day had worn on him, and the sun was withdrawing. No... It was no secret for him, the moonlight weakened him. His nature was the opposite of the mythical vampire. Whereas they are weakened by the sunlight, he was weakened by it's antagonist. The night came unnaturally quickly. "I bid you good night." The battle was lost, but not the war. Such cliche, but it was very true. He'd nothing more to say to them, and, to be honest, none of them were prepared to understand the sacrifice he was truly making. He'd eventually find other means. He frowned, hating himself for the failure on his part.
He looked up and took in the last few moments of the sunset. The clouds veiled the sun partially. Doses and dashes of apricot and dahlia collided with the blushing sky. The clouds smothered the stars as if tucking them like a blanket. "Such raw beauty..." He said to hiimself, sliding his hands in the pockets of his khakis. It didn't take long and he was buried inside his own thoughts. Think, Joshua. What's the next step? Where do we go from here? Storm. There was always the option of asking Ororo. But, he didn't really want to ask her if he had the option. She, along with the rest of the X-men, had done far too much for him as it was.

Victoria could see he’d given up. Just when she was gonna relent to. She listened. She didn’t speak as he spoke of Xavier. The boy was… trouble. And going to get himself killed. She knew it. She didn’t want to be responsible for it. She really really didn’t. But her other half the one that didn’t get angry, reminded her that he might actually need her help. She hated her conscience. Made it difficult to hate anyone.
Then he spoke of time. ”Time is mutable. At least that’s what I’ve heard.” she said simply, her voice even. She watched him carefully. He looked defeted. Maybe he was trying to hide it, but it was hard to hide anything from Fire. It could see through most deceptions. And do something about them. She didn’t respond to the apology. What was she gonna say? That she forgave him for being an ass? Hell no.
She watched him walk away and started to close the door. ”Go get him Tor. You know you want to.” she glared at the tall blond, Richard just smiled a little. ”Don’t give me that. You know as well as I do that if you don’t your going to regret it.” he said softly, keeping his distance. The fire hadn’t gone away from flickering across her body, not buring her uniform, but it was still there, and anyone who touched her would be burned. Badly. She saw someone else get to the boy first. Mal. What the hell was Xavier’s son doing here?
Mal had watched and listened, and was now walking next to the man. ”Hey. I’m Malcolm. I knew Charles Xaiver. Sorry about Tori. She’s… edgy. And you came on strong. That probably surprised her.” he said easily, leaving out his last name. Let the man get used to him on a different level before he found out that he was the son of prof X. He felt Tori behind them, and relaxed a bit, but didn’t let her get close. ”Try again. Don’t give up. Isn’t that what he would say? You have time. Not a lot, but you’ve got time. I promise you that.” he said softly, he could feel Charles Xaiver floating next to Josh, on his other side, watching him. He didn’t look at his father, but it was a comfort to know he was there. ”Just try one last time alright?”

"Hmm?" He was torn from his thoughts from an intruder. ”Hey. I’m Malcolm. I knew Charles Xaiver. Sorry about Tori. She’s… edgy. And you came on strong. That probably surprised her.” Ah, a psychic. So that was it. Malcolm. He turned his attention to the young man. It almost took his breath away. The similarities were uncanny. Perhaps his mind was playing tricks on me. "I'm Joshua, though you already know that." It wasn't exactly a question.
Ah, the proud must lie in opposing corners. "That does make sense. Most of the guys around her aren't as proud as she is." He said bluntly. ”Try again. Don’t give up. Isn’t that what he would say? You have time. Not a lot, but you’ve got time. I promise you that.” He even spoke to him the same way. Perhaps that was just the feel of a psychic's pull. The night was closing in and Joshua grew weaker. "I don't understand. What exactly would you benefit from her allowing me?"
It was no secret to Malcolm of his mission. But why was it so important to him that he succeed? Could he also have an ulterior motive? It would seem he didn't plan this as well as he could have. There are other factors, those that he couldn't have foreseen.
"And how exactly do you know if that's what he would have said or not?"
Things were getting strange. He could feel someone else, another soul, bound to Malcolm. Perhaps a passed being? It was very perplexing. The day had made it's mark and the night came. "Very well, I shall try again."

The tall man watched him, and saw and felt the understanding. he nodded, as if to conferm something. "I did. But i like hearing people's voices." he said simply, his blue eyes laughing. He was a joyfilled person... Well usually.
He got a nod from the specter floating beside Joshua. "They are... They've just learned that she burns. She's got a lot to be proud of. you just stepped on her toes. She's a big shot. She has to be. She's nice once you get past the Who the HELL are you and what the HELL are you doing in MY territory thing." he said simply as he moved, glancing at the moon, and the night. he loved the night. he really did.
"I think you have an idea... And beyond that... Well she needs more people who can snap at her. Most of us end up doing what she says. She's smart, and she's good at what she does, and very very few people will step in her way. I happen to be one of them. You could be to. Just to make her think." he felt the outrage at him, from Tori, who was following, from a safe distance. He sent her a quick message telling her it was true. She didn't respond.
"Because i knew Charles Xavier very very well. Well enough to know that you can't give up. She's following by the way. Curious, and worried. She's got a big heart, you just have to word it right." the ghost disapeared after that, which told the tall ma n he'd done right. He smiled a little, as Victoria caught up.
"Ah... Elixer... I'm sorry. I am not used to people ordering me to let them join. It's... Unusual. I've reconsidered and you can start the prosses." she said as she caught up, feeling small beside the two tall men.

"Because i knew Charles Xavier very very well. Well enough to know that you can't give up. She's following by the way. Curious, and worried. She's got a big heart, you just have to word it right."
That was to say in the least. He smiled at the man. "I understand, now. Thank you." So it wasn't his mind playing tricks after all. Being the child of someone so important, having to fill those steps, was difficult. He knew that only too well. "You're a good man, Malcolm. You make him proud." Though, eerily, he somehow knew that Malcolm was already under such an impression. Maybe his senses were tied in someway to his powers. Since he can manipulate a life force, maybe he can just sense when it's negative counterpart was around. Whatever it was, Malcolm definitely had someone watching over him.
His train of thought was interrupted. "Ah... Elixer... I'm sorry. I am not used to people ordering me to let them join. It's... Unusual. I've reconsidered and you can start the process." Her tone seemed much more calm, almost regretful. "No apologies necessary. I look forward to working with you." He said, a widened grin filling nearly half of his face. "Perhaps more discussion..." He began, but instantaneously felt weaker. He tried to shake it. "I'm sorry about that." He apologized. "As I was saying, perhaps more discussion is n..n-nece..." With that, he collapsed.
The world around him had gone dark. There was no Malcolm, and no Victoria. "Where am I?" He said, as if out of breath.
Flashes came to his head, like the evening reel at a movie theater. It began when he was a kid and ended on the ill fated day. He could see his mother, so beautiful and proud. Then it would move on to things like private school and other luxuries that he had before. Yeah, that was way before his father knew.
His visions moved on to when he was an X-man. It was strange. He didn't treasure those memories, but he most certainly didn't hate them. He sighed. He had to take the good with the bad right? And as of this memory, it was really bad.. He killed a man in this memory. He often struggled with this memory. More times than naught, his conscience got the best of him. "A necessary precaution." Another mutant told him in the memory.
Then there was Xavier, the man who treated him more like a son than his own blood-bound father. The man didn't deserve the ending that he got, and Joshua was going to fix it. That was his mission. Whatever consequences came would be a just penance.
Then all went black again.

Mal nodded. "Thanks." he did know that he was making his father proud, but he... wasn't sure he was making himself proud. He trusted the man as he started to speak, then he felt the man's aura fluxuait. "Shit." he reached out as the man collapsed, and with easy had the man fall carefully to the ground.
He crouched beside the man, touching his head. "Sheilded. Let's get him back inside. Now." Victoria nodded, worry coloring her dark eyes. "What happened?" mal shook his head as he stood up, lifting the body with him, it was easy. To easy, and he knew it. Dammit he was getting stronger. Not what he wanted. "I don't know. Though i'm sure getting him inside will help." with that he headed towards SMMO.
Victoria led the way, getting doors opened and such before Mal could, so that he could consentrait, but it was taking nothing to do so. Which kept worrying him, but he knew better than to let Tori know. Finally they got to the Infermery, and he gently layed Elixer on the bed. "Let's watch him. I can't get in his head. It's... sheilded." he said softly.

The blackness flowed infinitely. "What is going on?" Suddenly he could feel something drilling into his head. Falling to his knees, he screamed in agony. He got the feeling that Malcolm was trying to pierce through his mind. "GET OUUUUT!" He bellowed. The pain was unbearable. Then it stopped. As soon as his body was moved out of the moonlight, he felt a sense of relief.
His eyes began to flutter. He snapped up. He was out of breath, and nearly out of his mind. "Where am I?" He asked, peering at each member of the SMMO. He was trying to remember something, anything.
He had to be sitting there, silenced, for around ten minutes, before his memory returned to him. He jumped to his feet. "I'm sure you are all wondering what happened." He got a little dizzy, but maintained his balance. Not so fast. He heard a voice. "Whoa, that wasn't mine." He said before he could catch himself. "Well, this is a tad bit embarrassing."
He looked into the eyes of Malcolm and he knew he understood. However, the eyes of the others were still in a confused trance. "Nightfall, it's my weakness. My power is drawn from sunlight. That's really all I know." He said plainly. "I have theories as to why, but no real evidence except what happened here tonight." Between that and the draining emotional tide that the day had brought was enough to put anyone of his abilities in an insane asylum. He cleared his throat. "I apologize for my behavior to all of those who were offended. And, if I may, I need to speak with Mr. Malcolm and Ms. Rogue Eagle in private, please." He didn't mean to be demanding. But this was very necessary.
