Victoria nodded with a slight grin. ”Though I like my men a bit shorter.” she said with a grin. More like a lot. But that was beside the point. She leaned back as she continued to watch him. Her powers were silent. At least for now.
”That, Mr. Kidd. Would depend on you. I run something called the Special Mutant Military Operation. We… do what we can where we can. We’re like… Mutant Marines. And I’d like to have a civilian branch. Someone who can… help us outside the military sphere.” she said softly, watching him.
His next words made her nod. ”Because… Like you… I know about not having any family. I… guess I just like helping people. Don’t take that the wrong way, but I do. It’s… a weakness, or so I’ve been told, and you… seemed lost. At least to me. Wanted to help. You willing to take it? You’d be a civilian military contracter. You’d start out as a consultant with $50,000 a year. If you could set up an entire staff of Mutant and Humans, working together, then it would get higher. I’d give you free reing. You could be based here. Or anywhere you wanted. And yeah this sounds dreamy, but I at least, don’t like bad dreams. I’ve been ordered by the president to make a Civilian branch, so that if the SMMO is disbanded in three years, well… We’ll still be able to opporaite. What do you say?” she trusted him. She wasn’t sure why, but fire always perceived right. Hence it’s danger.
Lieing to her wasn’t practically, and fire just burned away the lies, seeing to the truth. So she went with her gut. ’Don’t ask why I’m asking you to do this. It’s… not something I can share. And no I didn’t search you out, but… Something tells me I can trust you. You willing to show me that it’s right?”

Let the chips fall ”Though I like my men a bit shorter.” She replied. He giggled a little bit. "They've got to be at least my height." He got out, a wide angle grin revealing itself. But now was serious time, and he could tell it by the look in her eyes. ”That, Mr. Kidd. Would depend on you. I run something called the Special Mutant Military Operation. We… do what we can where we can. We’re like… Mutant Marines. And I’d like to have a civilian branch. Someone who can… help us outside the military sphere.”
He was astonished. What would make someone who knew so little about him want to be so kind and thoughtful? He was perplexed by the idea of such a thing. He'd long thought that things like kindness and generosity was extinct. "So you'd open up a department for me, to do what I wish, with the only requirement being that I work alongside your Special Mutant Military Operations?" This was an offer that not many would refuse. She was offering a job, protection, and the capabilities to do what he wished with this new civilian department. "I must tell you, you know how to tickle someone's interest."
But there were still questions to be unanswered. Why him? What was William the one to be chosen out of the many, possibly hundreds, that could do most likely a better job than he could. "Will there be training involved?" He said, obviously ensnared in the idea. There were so many things he could do. He could help mutants, raise a human-mutant fellowship campaign, open up a mutant hospital, the opportunities and possibilities were nearly endless. I’ve been ordered by the president to make a Civilian branch, so that if the SMMO is disbanded in three years, well… We’ll still be able to opporaite. What do you say?”
How do you really say no to that? "Don’t ask why I’m asking you to do this. It’s… not something I can share. And no I didn’t search you out, but… Something tells me I can trust you. You willing to show me that i'm right?” He laughed a little. "How exactly am I supposed to deny such an offer?" He smiled. "You've helped me see that I want to help mutants and humans alike. And this would give me the capabilities. I'll take the job."
He'd hoped he knew what he was doing. Even though Jacksonville was beautiful, this was home. He couldn't exactly do his work here. There was bound to be a whiplash of hard feelings for his program, and he couldn't allow that to happen to home. "Though, I'm not sure doing it here would be such a good idea." He said, seriously. "I don't want my home to be trashed over ignorance. I'm sure you understand."
The man had a job, a love interest, a purpose, and a home. What more could one ask for?

Victoria nodded. ”Yes. Mutants need protectors that are legitimate. I know the X-men are powerful, but they are a target. SMMO would help with security and getting you on your feet until you could get your own stuff set up.” she said with a smile. She liked this guy. And no she still didn’t know why she trusted, him… but she did. She could just hear Wolverine telling her she was being stupid, but she wasn’t. It’ felt right.
Her smile got bigger. ”Well then, Mr. Kidd welcome to the team.” she said with a slight laugh. Then he spoke again. ”True. We have a few places, that you can use until you get yourself settled. You’ll be working with our president, but it’s not something that gets handed down, at least not yet. So you’ll have to work on your own as well.” she said softly. ”I’m not due home in new york for about six days, so I can get everything ready for you.” she added

i need you like water, like breath, like rain I NEED YOU LIKE MERCY FROM HEAVEN'S GATES----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------THERE'S A FREEDOM IN YOUR ARMS THAT CARRIES MEthrough i need you, oh yes i do Save.Your.Regrets. ”Well then, Mr. Kidd welcome to the team.” she said. "Thank you very much." He said, with a half grin. ”True. We have a few places, that you can use until you get yourself settled. You’ll be working with our president, but it’s not something that gets handed down, at least not yet. So you’ll have to work on your own as well.” she said softly. ”I’m not due home in new york for about six days, so I can get everything ready for you.”
"That would be wonderful"
He thought about the very many things he would need. And he only had six days to plan such details. "You're more than welcome to stay here if you like. Or I can speak to Mr. Conners about a temporary room for you, if you so prefer." He said, trying to make things even. However, he knew that a room wouldn't amount to the massive offer that was just put on the table. It still felt strange for him.
I wasn't aware that there were even other mutants, let alone people like this one. The day's events had given him a home, a job, and a purpose. And he was hardly going to let her down. He tensely awaited her reply. Though, his mind was marveling in the construction of his department of the government. They would need a base, he knew that much. And it should be secret, only known to those who've been helped and those who work there. He'd also need a reaction team. He'd lead that. However, he'd also need a research team, which could lead him to the idea of involving humans. And he'd need a medical team. Three teams, that's not so bad. So, in result, he'd need about ten people, aside from himself.
He'd need a cover, possibly a medical cover. "Of course." Thinking aloud was not only strange, but loud. "Sorry. I was thinking aloud." His olive complexion immediately turned rose. Anyhow, back to business. "Perhaps we could use the underground." He said to her. Under a hospital. It would be a perfect cover, and it would also give us access to the medical facilities." Now to figure out the living quarters.
He didn't really think it'd be a good idea to live all together. But as teams, perhaps they could bunk up together. One question did arise: where would he find the mutants necessary for rescue missions?
