Mal was deeply asleep when he moved and felt something soft next to him. That brought him wide awake. He’d been dreaming about… something. A pretty girl. As his eyes opened he realized which one he’d dreamed about. Laura. He smiled a little at her sleeping form next to him as he night before came flooding back. It had sounded like she’d enjoyed herself. He noticed that he was on the floor of his living room, with the soft carpet under him, and one of the throws from the couch on top of him. His back was to the coffee table. There wasn’t a whole lot of room between the couch and the coffee table, and he was pressed up against Laura.

Not that he didn’t mind being there, just his hand touching soft warm skin had surprised him. He let his eyes rove over her face, and shoulder (the only things he could see), thinking about the rest of her. He didn’t notice that he was reading her top thoughts with out thinking. He didn’t usually do that. He reached out slowly and brushed a few strands of hair out from her face.

Laura probably slept for the first time in months. Content and drained, she felt protected and welcome, slipping in and out of a strange, pastel shaded dreams. She didn't start to come around right away, even though she sensed on some level when Malcolm woke up; maybe she was just too tired to come around that fast.

Once his fingers brushed her face to move the hair back did she actually manage to stir. Lashes fluttered open, her sleep dark emerald eyes slow to focus on the face in front of her. She yawned a little, then smiled sleepily at him. "Hey..."

Mal watched her wake up, a rather goofy grin on his face. He could feel her mind waking up (slower than her body), which he rather enjoyed. ”Hey love.” he murmured to her, kissing her forhead. ”Did you sleep well?” he bairly let his voice get above a whisper. He was caught again in her green eyes. They were clouded with sleep.

He found himself fully relaxed. Something he hadn’t been in a while, and he didn’t hear the entire building, like he usually did. Somewhere in the back of his head he knew it was because he was focused on Laura, but he didn’t care at this point. It was just what it was.

His words about sleeping well brought a instant response; Laura gave a yawn, then laughed softly. Had she been a bit more awake, she might have wondered on the 'love' nickname or the kiss - but in the relaxed state, she simply accepted both with a faint blush. "I did sleep well, thank you for asking. How about you?"

Rolling gently, Laura stretched out at his side and gave a little noise; she was gonna be sore for a bit. Healing aside - you are still sore. Bringing a hand up, she rubbed her right eye to clear it a little better, then just dropped the hand by her head as she focused her gaze on Malcolm next to her. He watched her, not threatening - but she enjoyed the attention.

Mal gave her a rather lazy grin. ”Oh it was fine.” he murmured, fully expecting her annoyance. At least a little. He watched her streach, enjoying his view. He rested his head back on the floor, shifting a little so his arm wouldn’t fall asleep. He felt happy. Though a different kind of happy from normal. He wasn’t holding back his anger, it was gone. At least for now.

He moved to wrap his arms around her carefully. He touches his lips to her nose. It was a kiss yes, but it was more… just taking his time, and enjoying the moment. His life usually moved fast, partially that was HIS fault, but not all of it, and he liked to stop and smell the roses, but life didn’t always let you. This time he would.

"Just fine?" She had a humorous hitch to her voice, Laura arching a eyebrow at him over dancing green eyes. She shivered slighting as his arms slipped around her, rolling a little in them to be closer to him. His lips found the end of her nose - she wiggled her nose a little and made a face, a soft laugh slipping out.

Laura was content to simply remain in Mal's arms. Normally, she didn't like being touched, didn't want anyone inside her defenses. But right now, she had no want to much - just to stay here in the protection of the blond's attentions. Tilting her head, she caught the edge of his jaw with a brush of her lips, her smaller form settling perfectly next to Mal's hips. Lifting a hand, Laura rested it in the center of Malcolm's bare chest, fingers spread a little so she could feel his heartbeat. "So much for doing anything this morning... I don't want to get up..."

Mal smiled at her words. It would have sounded affronted if it wasn’t for her smile. He grinned. ”Yep. Just.” he murmured playfully as he kept her close. He was happy to stay there forever. Not have to move. That would be nice. Just stay like that, warm on the floor, with Laura. That sounded easier than anything else he could do.

He shivered slightly when her hand touched his chest, but no other extream reaction… well mostly. He grinned a little as she moved to fit herself against him. Then she spoke. ”Agreed. Let’s not get up.” he said making the vote for staying there unanimous.
