Wolverine slipped into the facility after going through the high security. He knew that he could have slipped in without anyone noticing, but what was the point? He put the effort into his missions, not into returning from a successful one. He had gone through security, the guards turning off the metal detectors so his skeleton would not set off the alarms.
The sun was still no where in sight, around 3:45 am and the sky were a dark navy. He had flown in a few hours ago from Venice, where the meeting he had to infiltrate had been held. It was so simple, slipping in as an American delegate, who was sick and had remained home. He had intercepted the message before it reached Italy and sent a false reply back to the American. This was old hat for Logan, almost as easy as a walk in the park. He had been in and out of the military most of his life, 150 odd years or so, and he was highly skilled in espionage and undercover operations.
Logan slipped down the hall, his booted feet making muted thuds on the clean floor. He was heading to SMMO's leader's office. Storm had instructed that he work as a teacher and an X-man as well as a field operative for SMMO, and he had accepted. He sort of enjoyed his now busy life, at least it gave him time to forget about the pains and cursed thoughts that awaited him when he was not working. He reached the door he was heading for and tapped twice. The guard had sent a message to Victoria, informing her of his arrival, but he expected she was asleep at this early hour. He wanted to get home as soon as he could, for he had lessons to teach today, so the debrief had to be now. He waited, leaned up against the wall, cataloging the information he was going to give up when it was time.

Victoria had gotten the call, but it was a good thing her office was attached to her rooms. (For her convience, mainly because most of the SMMO seemed to have late hours). She had been asleep. But over ten years of military life had pretty much made sure she was awake as soon as the call came through. She sighed as she grabbed her uniform from the floor and put it on, sticking her hat on so she didn’t have to brush her hair. She slipped out into her office just as there was a knock on her door. ”It’s open.” she said as she flicked on her computer to either write the report in, or just to look busy. Probably the latter.
Oh she knew who was out there, she was just not caring. In all tecnicallities he was a civilian. Sure he was working with the SMMO, but he was Teacher and X-Men first. (Which she thought much more important, if only for the fact that the young mutant’s needed a teacher). She waited for him to enter, sitting at her desk, which was the rather austair, medel kind. More for her protection. She really didn’t like having her wooden one’s eaten up because someone was pissed off. Of course that wouldn’t stop Wolverine, but still. It was the feeling of the thing. That and she was being lazy. It was three in the morning! Ok four. But still! She had good reason to want to sit down.

Wolverine entered at the sound of his "boss" entering the room. As he opened the door, he heard the electrical whine of a computer booting up and the soft flump of someone sitting down. A quick sniff confermed that it was who he was looking for. Victoria, head of SMMO, sat at her metal desk, looking as if she had just gotten up, which was plausable at this time in the morning. Since he himself rarely felt safe enough to sleep nowadays, he usually was very alert at all times.
He gave her a once over as he quietly closed the door behind him. He could smell that her clothing was not fresh and clean, smelling like her rather than detergent and softener. He made eye contact and gave a quick salutte. "Good morning, Captain. I am here to debrief on the Venice Infultration. It was successful..." He paused, waiting for a reaction from the woman. She had a very firey (literally) temper and he hoped he would not have to deal with it this morning. He was mentally tired from almost a week of sprase meditation, and his leash on his own temper was frayed to the breaking point. He just wanted to get this over with and go, but there was something that he had learned that might be of great importence from both the X-Men and SMMO.
He walked forward to stand a few feet from the desk, settling into a comfortable stance. He crossed his arms and listened hard to the sounds around him. He heard the buzzing of the florecent lights, the sounds of various machines whurring as they functioned, and the soft, deep breathing of the Base's other ihabitants. Nothing seamed amiss, so he again focused of the women before him. His sences focused of her, the creature straining at the lady at the desk. It found something it like in Victoria, but despite the creature's attempts, she still ignored the fact that he was alive. He stood firm, eyes locked with hers as he gave her a level gaze, searching for the reactions that they eyes held alone.

Victoria nodded after he spoke. ”Good. So what did you find?” She asked simply, leaning back a bit in her chair as she watched him back. Oh just because she wasn’t willing to admit he was attractive didn’t mean she didn’t notice him, she just chose to keep him on a professional level. Her mind was already figuring out where on her computer she was going to place the information, that and what she should have for breakfast. After this meeting it was going to be a quick shower, new clothing, and a trip to the mess. If only because after being woken up once close to day break she didn’t fall back asleep . This was going to be a long day.
Though if there was any important information that Wolverine had, she’d be able to deal with it easy. After all each team of the SMMO had at least four people awake at any time (They’d all leanred the hard way that the bad guys don’t sleep. Ever.) She waited for the man on the other side of her desk to speak. She was good at depriving herself. She’d done it since before she could remember. A life on the streets of LA. And look where she was. No wonder the military wanted to make her a poster child. And of course she kept refusing, though the Presidant wasn’t to happy about that. What was she to say? Yes sir, I want my face posted EVERYWHERE, and I want every single person, mutant and human, to know my name? No thank you. She did have pride.

Wolverine looked her over once more before he began. "Our hunch that the Italian Government was in on some shady mutant dealings was correct. Most of the meeting was over mutants in the population and what to do about them, but there was a talk between two Italians I overheard." He smirked, remembering the way the two people had looked when they though no one could hear them talking. His accute sences could pick up an owl flying from 100 meters away, so these voices were as clear as day.
He was not quite fluent in Italian, but he had been able to translate most of the conversation. He made a quick check in his head of the translation before continuing. "I am not fluent as of yet in Italian, but from what I heard, the Government has a Mutant Testing Facility in the Congo. It apparently has been in operation for around 10 years. It disterbs me that we did not know about this sooner." He broke off, his arms pressing tighter against himself. Just the thought of imprisonment and testing on anything set him on edge, the creature recoiling and hissing in displeasure at the mention of "testing".
He took a moment to steady himself, chaining the creature in the back of his mind. He would not show any form of weakness, for weakness only brought him pain. He looked about at the captain."They apperently have had one particular mutant for pretty much the whole time the facility has been in operation. All the others that were sent there have perished, but this one has survived. The one was saying that the mutant in question had gone insane, striking out at everyone that got too close in some sort of predator form. He said the mutant was a shifter, but might also be a telopath..." He sighed, a memory coming to the surface once more. He missed Prof. Xavier more than any other person could know. Charles had been the only one to accept him for what he was without hesitation, pulling him from the brink of insanity and sheilding him from his feral nature. They had become good friends and the wounds to his heart when the telopath had died still bleed, draining his control on the creature that shared his timeless body.

The woman sat still listening. She was relaxed, though unmoving, very much like a candle flame in a room with no circulation of air. ”That is unsurprising. After all Canada and the US have Mutants, why wouldn’t other countries want the same? Though why they don’t just keep it out in the open I have no idea. Human’s have made it so that Mutant’s are more loyal to mutants than to their country.” she said quickly, more thinking outloud, though it was useful. Hm. She was going to have to send in Alfa Unit, Team Four in there it seemed. Markus should be able to get what they needed. She hated sending anyone of her command staff, but sometimes you just had to send in the right people.
She turned her attention back to Wolverine, as he spoke again. A testing site. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn! She turned towards her computer. ”Possibly it’s hidden from other Mutant’s, or just well hidden. Even the best of Spies can be tricked.” she said in his silence, hitting a few buttons, as she sent a command to wake Richard. This was a great deal more important then she thought. She was listening, as her slightly cocked head showed. She was quick to bring up the congo. This was not going to be easy. ”Telepath? Great. And an insane one. As if Phoenix wasn’t enough.” She sighed, closing her eyes for a second. ”And we have no one to counter that kind of power flux.” oh joy. That meant all healers were on deck. Including herself. She was faster than anyone else to get a hold on a patient. Though not the strongest in healing. Probably because she was more offencive. Good thing there were other healers in the SMMO. Passive people, but there.
”Thank you Wolverine. I will be asking for your services again I think. Did you get any more information on the exact place in the Congo?” She hated the congo. Stupid jungle, with no way out that wasn’t hostile. And the Jungle didn’t burn as easly as some other forests. She was going to be out of her element. Not that she wasn’t used to that, but still. Scratch Markus going into Italy. She’d have to have him on this mission. Maria to. Between the four of them they should be able to get into the building, but they would need another way to find the girl. And plus she did have animalistic mutant’s in the SMMO, but none were near as powerful as Wolverine. So he had his uses.

Logan grimaced a bit as he felt her displeasure at the testing facility, echoed by his own anger. He would be coming along with them, whether Victoria liked it or not. He may not be a fan of the wet and muggy rain forest, but his creature was in it's element. It would be happy surrounded by feral life and foliage and keen senses would be a must. He sighed at it voiced it's opinion in his mind, and he added a muzzle to the chains that bound it. He did not want this thing snarling at him right now.
He slipped a callused hand into his jacket pocket, searching for something that he was happy he had obtained. "I have something even better. After the meeting had finished, I followed the Italians back to their hotel. I shadowed them for a few hours, picking up bits of talk about the next group of scientists heading out to Africa. They left again to go get something to eat, giving me a chance to break it. I cut the dead bolt and avoided setting off the motion detector they had placed by the door. These men were ready for someone to try and break in..."
His hand finally found what he had been seeking. He pulled out a small flash drive and tossed it onto the desk. "The idiot had left his computer open on the desk, saving me the time and hassle of hacking in. I found the coordinates of the facility, information on the security systems and other protections...Everything. There is even a lab report on the telepath on there. It's under T-1.27. I did not have a chance to look though the information before I heard them returning, so I had to slip out the window." He gave Tori a raised eyebrow, wondering what her response would be to this. He knew that this would make the mission much easier with all the information on that disk. He almost laughed aloud at the stupidity of the Italians...Shady people leaving top secret info just laying out for trespassers to find...What idiots.

She was still planning when he started to speak, and frowned, shoving down her usual snap. He wasn’t to be snapped at. Not right now. Of course now that she was paying attention she was a bit happier, though annoyed he was dangling the what ever it was. Ah there it was. She snagged it before it hit the desk and pushed it in. ”More than Useful. Mean’s it’ll take a day to get everything ready instead of two weeks. And the day is only because I need to brief a few people.” She wasn’t to worried about Wolverine finding out about how the SMMO reported directly to the Pentagon and President. After all he was Alpha Soldier.
She glanced over at him. ”Seems the Italian’s have proved again they have no idea what they are doing. No wonder Mutants prefer America. At least we didn’t side with Hilter.” she had a slight bone to pick with the Italian’s for that. After all most of their people would have been killed if they’d even payed ANY attention. Dark hair, dark eyes, HELLO, NOT Aryan. Plus it always bothered her that if she’d been born years earlier, and in Germany she’d be quite dead. Not a pleasant thought.
Another knock on her door made her smile. ”Come in.” she called, just as it swung open and Richard walked through the door, stopped, eyed Wolverine, and kept moving. ”You called?” he drawled, getting a slight smile out of Tori. ”It seems we have a mission. Wolverine found out that we have a Testing Facility to infiltrate. There’s even a girl in disress.” she kept her face neutral as the slightly older man grinned. ”Though I doubt she’s caring about who saves her. Insane. And Telepath, which mean’s dangerous, expecially if she’s got any kind of training. So mind on the job Gale.” he sighed. ”Yes Ma’am.” he saluted. A tad late, but she wasn’t worried. Richard had proved his worth.
”I don’t’ know if you two have met. Wolverine, Gale. My XO. Gale, this is Wolverine. He’s been placed with us by the leader of the X-Men, Storm. Please don’t go toe to toe with him Gale, there’s no point. We’ll need Jungle gear, and as much firepower as you can muster.”
”As if you won’t be enough.” he said as he headed for the door. ”If I wasn’t going to be trying to keep someone from attacking everyone? Sure. Bu tnot this time.” She shook her head as the man walked out the door, and left. ”You’ve got one day Wolverine. I’d like you to join us. At least for now.”

Logan gave a quick grin at the Hitler remark. He had had the unfortunate event of meeting the man in an under-cover operation during WWII. Power-hungry, insane man he was. A mutant-hater just as much as he hated the Jewish people, even though he held mutants as some of his ranking officers. "Hitler was a persuasive idiot, so no wonder the Italians fell for it. Sometimes it seems the their Government gives civilians top secret information in public and tells them to hush it up..."
Wolverine turned quickly as he heard footsteps coming down the hall. He could smell that the person was male and unfamiliar. He flicked a glace at Victoria before looking over his shoulder at the man who has walked through the door. He eyed Logan over, and a soft snarl passed his lips. Something about this man put him on edge, but he stepped aside so he could talk to Victoria.
He gave the man a good once over, putting a name and a scent to a face. He had seen Gale before, but never had gone out of his way to talk to him. Storm had him working almost exclusively with Victoria, so he had little reason to find out about SMMO's other operatives. He gave the man a curt nod, trying not to snarl at him. It irritated him that this man was able to get a smile out of Tori just by showing up, and even with his attempts at seduction he had only gotten ignored. This Gale was stepping on his territorial toes, but he would have to let it go...this time...
He turned his attention back to Tori as she gave instructions to Gale. He resisted the temptation to trip the man as he walked out, but snapped back to earth when Tori spoke. "I should be able to get Storm to let me go. I will have to give lesson plans to Beast for combat and Animal science...and find some grueling task for Horsemanship... What time do you expect me back here? I can get back as early as this evening." He took a seat on the his side of the desk, leaning back while watching Tori sift through the content of the flash drive. He read everything on the page quickly and he chuckled to himself. "It's all in Italian. I could help you get through it if you want. I have a few hours before I am expected back." He waited for a reply while planning what he was going to set his students for the next day or two.

She shook her head in disagreement. For a girl who bairly scraped by in school she knew a great deal about history. ”Wrong there. Hitlar was brilliant. Or at least had someone backing him that was brilliant. You don’t get an entire country to willingly give over all of one type of their people, and not ask a single question with out something. He wasn’t cruel to everyone at first. Though the Italian’s were idiots. Beautiful country. Wonderful history, just… stupid.” she was still looking through the files. Picking up a word here or there. She couldn’t read it but she had a good idea of what she was looking for anyways. Numbers. That kind of thing.
She noticed the reaction to her smiling at Richard. Good. Maybe he’d leave her alone if he thought she was with someone else. Though she doubted it. If Wishes were Pony’s. She glanced at him as he looked over her shoulder. ”I believe you are still a Civilian Mr Howlett, Which mean’s you shouldn’t be reading over Military personell shoulder’s.” with that she hit a button and everything went into English. ”Plus I have a translator. Thank you though. I’d advise speaking with Storm as soon as possible. We will be prepping all day. Should be leaving just as the sun goes down.” her look was neutral. More of a polite, ok get the hell out of my office. A dismissal. With that she turned back to her screen and continued to read. Interesting, Though nothing they couldn’t have figured out. Oh there. That little bit was something they didn’t know. ”Oh and Howlett? Tell Storm to look out for Brotherhood action in the next few days. Seems the Italian’s are working a deal with them. Don’t know what Magneto’s up to, but one group should be watching out for them.” she said before he left, frowning as she continued to read.

Logan almost hissed at her polite-not dismissal. What raised his hackles even more was that she had called him a civilian. He may not have been in active duty for awhile, but once the Alpha Solider, allways the Alpha Solider. He was about to snap something back at her when she spoke again.
He sighed and looked at the ceiling before getting up. Of course, the "civilain" getting yelled at for reading over her shoulder... He gave her a curt nod. "I will be here before the sun fully sets. Bring your bug spray...YOUR going to need it." He said, a bit of vemon in his tone. He fixed his trench coat around himself, covering his white shirt and military cargos. He had heard the rain begin to fall outside and had thought to bring his coat with. He was a trusted spy and X-man, but a no body in her eyes.
As he walked to the door he paused as his hand touched the doorknob, an interesting thought crossed his mind. Storm would have no objection, he was sure, aslong as he did not miss TOO many classes each week. Not like he had many to begin with. "I will have my papers into the recriutment office in 2 hours, you can count on it." He said as he walked out. He paused again and glanced over his shoulder. "And Captain...Call me Logan." with that he shut the door softly and glided out of the building heading out to talk with Storm and give her the details of his trip.

She could feel the tention rise. Well he should leave. Even a ‘civilian’ should know to get out of the military’s hair when they were dismissed. She glanced at him again as he spoke. ”Mandatory in all missions. Can’t have people slapping at bugs.” she said with a curt voice, obviously annoyed. She took a breath, a quick one, hoping he’d be gone when she was done, but obviously not.
”Then I’ll be calling you Howlet or wolverine, I don’t call my men by their first name’s. “ She seriously wondered if he was demented. She was thankful when he was gone. And managed to more work done before sending out the memo, and then off to shower, get breakfast, and get to the Presidents, and brief him.
It was about six-thirty civilian time when she walked out of the main building in full black gear. Light, and lyth, the only color was her face, and the small badge on her left shoulder. Red, Yellow, Blue, and green. The middle was a light mesh swirly thing. She glanced at the other’s coming out. The sun was still up, but about to fall. She smiled just a little. This she could do. ”Captain, we’ve got everything set. The Copter’s are ready to go, just getting the crew together.” Richard was at her side and she grinned. ”Thanks Gale. Take a breather, We aren’t leaving till night falls.” she said with a slight laugh. It was a joke between the two of them.

Wolverine slipped back to the SMMO base just as the sun was setting, he heard the wherring of chopper blades in the distence. He had sent in his papers to the recruitment desk with Storm's approval exactly 2 hours after he and Victoria had parted. He tried his best to stick to his promises, even if they are not accnolaged by anyone but himself. He lives by his own Code of Honor, and that Code helped him restrain the beast inside himself.
He knew that he would not get his acceptence letter for a few more days, but it made him feel better that he was ready to get back into active duty once more. Since becoming a teacher, he had felt un-satisfied, even being an X-man. He needed to be in the action, helping fight against people who wanted to use and kill mutants like lab rats. Logan was dressed in his military gear, including a bullet-proof vest, prepared for the worst. Hell, a bullet can't kill him, but a shot to the heart would have him down and defenceless for a week or more. No point taking chances, and not like the extra 50 lbs did anything to him anyway. His dog tags lay front and center on his chest, glinting brightly in the dieing sun.
He sniffed about, catching the scent of Gale and Victoria and tracked them to where the Chopper Pad was located. No one bothered him along the way, most of the people he met giving him a wide birth when the saw the Alpha Solider embelum on his shirt. He did not care though, he was focused on the hunt. Missions like this really excited the beast. Infultrate and rescue. Simple...yet totally danger filled. He smirked to himself as he came upon Victoria just outside a door into the complex. He gave her a salute and grinned again. "Evening, Captian. Did you get my paperwork in for review? I think you will find me a sutable candidate to join your ranks." He looked over at the Chopper. Good bird, military grade, perfect for a fast flight to a faster jet. They needed to get to Africa as soon as they could. He wanted this poor telepath out of harms way... She might not be Jean, but anyone who had the potential to use Cerebro was an asset to everyone...if she could be saved from the brink of insanity.

Maria walked up just before Logan. ”Watch out. There’s Wolverine.” she said with a smirk at Tori. The smaller woman actually glared. ”Mhm. Let’s hope this doesn’t take long. I have a debriefing of our Alpha mission tomorrow at 600.” she snapped at the woman. Maria sighed. Already she could see the flicker’s of fire dancing off the suit. Most would take it as just the setting sun, but as the light darkened, it was quite obvious that it was Tori. This was easy for her.
Tori glanced over. ”Takes at least a day to get to my office. Goes through channels. Like normal Military.” she said with a shrug, ignoring the insignia. He’d have to figure out where he wanted the SMMO insignia if he wanted to join SMMO. (or Shmmo as some called it. Ammo also came up, though not often.) She nodded and stepped forward as Markus showed up. Each of the members of the team (All ten of them, not including wolverine) were in black suits, belts, and each had a helmet. All was Kevlar. Light but very strong. The SMMO had the top, mainly because they were proving to be a very valuable assest to the us Military. If only because they got the job done. And usually with less casualties, on their side.
She nodded to the tall muscular man. ”We ready to fly Lorus?” she asked simply. ”Just Give the word Captain.” She nodded, and glanced at Wolverine, and Gale, Maria already gotten in. ”Gale you lead Team one. I’ll lead team two. Not sure where to place you yet howlet so you chose.” she said before heading off towards the ‘copter, and getting under the sound of the rutters.
With that they lifted off. SMMO didn’t have a personal air strip. Yet. Helicopters? Yes. Jets? Not yet. She was petitioning for it, and was winning, but things take time. So they flew the five minutes to the big base and transferred to a second jet. There were three other ‘animal’ mutant’s besides Wolverine. One was very cat like, she was quiet. Another was fox like. He spoke with a british accent. The third was very… snake like. The other’s were minor things, but all useful in their own way. They even had a medal user, which was useful, though he couldn’t stand up to Magneto. As they transferred, she glanced them over. Everyone was ready, and she let Richard figure out where everone went. She slipped into the front and checked with their Pilot. A Energy Bender. The young woman nodded with a grin, and they started to taxi before the Captain made it to her seat. Though she strapped herself in quickly. Even if she did have healing factor, she was no idiot. Plus the one time I had taken less than four month’s to fully come back from the dead has been the very first time. Drowning was no fun. She closed her eyes as the plane took off, breathing deeply.
DING! ”Hello All. This is your Pilot speaking. We will be cutting through some storms, so expect some turbulence. I’d advise staying tucked in, and please keep your legs, feet, arms, heads, and toungs inside your chairs. Thank you.”
DING! The pilot then promptly took them in a dive, that everyone could feel. Tori had the unlucky spot of being near the front. So she felt everything first. Joy. She closed her eyes and just forced herself to relax. Freaking out in an enclosed metal box was not going to help matters. [/blockquote][/blockquote] ATTIRE

Wolverine nodded curtly to those in the chopper as he climbed aboard. The flight was short and soon they were on the jet that would take them to the Congo. He settled himself in his seat, not bothering to strap anything but on of the seat belts. Leaning back, he closed his eyes and began to examine the scents of those around him.
He could smell a cat, a fox, and some sort of reptile...This is all they could muster? The animalic scents to the mutants were fairly faint, meaning that the mutants were more human than animal. He knew that only mutants were on this jet and it made him a bit edgy that the party was so small, but whatever. It was not his job to deside these things, and he was not sure what these mutants could do, never seeing them work before...
He sighed and settled back, sliding into meditation for the long journey. He may have looked like he was asleep, but at every single little sound from the others, his eyes snapped open. He heard the wheels come out of the jet as it began it's desent quite a few hours later. He prepared for landing before the pilot told everyone they were going to land. He felt the jet bump as it hit the ground and stripped off the seat belt. He was ready to get out of this cage and so was the beast.
