Listening to Roland talk, Terri's eyes locked instantly onto the older man's face. This 'Shadowmind' sounded more like villain then any of them, definitely not what they were used to come out of Xavier's Institute. Something about how Roland had worded that comment took a few seconds to register. Her eyes widened as she leaned forward, the plate in front of her. The rest of the conversation about the facility was lost on the distressed artist.
"Oh no - I know that look. Don't you even think about it, Roland. I am not gonna have you going and getting your mind wiped by some lunatic out to 'save the planet' am I clear? You are not gonna go play with this guy until we figure out more."
Her eyes were wide, wet, fearful for her friend - one of the fews she still had. "Please, Roland." She did her best to seem casual, not to let onto those around them how much this talk bothered her. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

"Not you. It can't be you."
Terri's response was quick and quiet, even tones in the face of the distress she was feeling. She couldn't believe how... calm he was about this. She didn't want to raise her voice, didn't want to attract attention to their talk. She look a deep breath, then refocused on Roland. Okay, maybe she should have taken a breath before reacting - but it was like your big brother or your father saying he was going off to war. She didn't know what to think really. The lack of sleep wasn't helping with her decision making skills either. "You just can't, Roland. The Brotherhood needs you - you are wants holding us together right now and even you know that. What happens if this, this... Shadowmind wipes your memories? Whats to say you'll remember anything? OR even come back to us? Have you even thought about this?"[/blockquote][/blockquote]

She glanced down at her plate as he pointed out the sausage and toast still there - cool by now. She gave a cute grimace and looked back up. "Quit trying to change the subject, Roland." Her voice was soft, a hint of humor to it. So? That was the best he could come up with?
She forced herself to relax a bit, giving him her best smile despite how tired she felt. "Look.. I'm just saying lets... learn a little more about him first, alright? No need to take risks that we don't need to. There has to be another way." Hand looped around the juice glass, taking it with her as she leaned back. "Maybe.. we can find someone on the outside that knows something. We don't have to go to the extreme 'direct confrontation with the mind wiping lunatic' option, do we?"
Lifting the glass, she set it to her lips and took a few swallows of the luke warm OJ. It wasn't like her to be this... unhinged. Why was it Roland's idea had pushed the panic buttons. Jeez... she reacted like a upset ten year old...

Terri couldn't say she understood totally what Roland was going thru but she had an idea. Right now, the Brotherhood felt... lost. Directionless. It was like being on a boat with no chart to follow, no place to go. Roland was supposed to be the captain of this sinking ship - it had to be worse for him then them.
She finished the juice, setting the empty glass on the tray by her nearly empty plate. Using her fingers, she collected one of the remaining links of cooled sausage and took a bite, chewing thoughtfully. After she swallowed, she gave a little sigh.
"We'll figure it out, Roland. But getting information isn't worth losing you in the process." Dropping the sausage back onto the plate, she gave the tray a gentle push away from her, not too far, but enough to signal to herself at least that she was done. She stifled the yawn, looking around the mess hall.
"You ever notice how much people watch you in here?"

Since when did loosing him matter? Someone else would pick up the slack. Isn’t that what he’d done? There would be someone else. There always was. It was the idea of the Brotherhood that mattered… didn’t it? Oh he knew Magneto and Raven were around, but they weren’t HERE. And yes it bothered him that everyone looked to him for answers, and that sometimes he couldn’t give them, but he wasn’t all important.
He watched her again, wishing he had more coffee. ”No. I never noticed that.” he said standing up, and glancing around ,hearing the sound level rise a bit. Oh he noticed, he just didn’t care. They got what they saw, weather they liked it or not, and he’d had bullies try to displace him, they generally didn’t like his mental tricks and psionic blasts. Just… not something you want to mess with, expecially if the person has twenty years of battle behind his belt. ”You goin’ to bed?” he asked her. ``statsdone ``tagging Anyone who’s brotherhood/thinking of becoming brotherhood ``word count### Somethin? ``clothes click ``listening to Stuff (Doctor Who. xD) ``notes Roland’s… Amusing ``lyrics: hello brooklyn by all time low made by megaru . don't steal. it's so not cool. she will sick ninjas on your butt if you steal.

Tribal watched him stand, dropping her chin to hide the smile. Didn't notice huh? She didn't believe that in the least. She doubted very much slipped past Roland without being 'noticed'. Still, she let it slide as she cast a glance around the room from under her lashes.
Roland's comment about sleep brought a instant reply. Terri's hand cam up, covering her mouth as she yawned. She gave a laugh and nodded, standing up from her own chair. "Yea.... I guess that would be my best move. I'm not much good for anything else till I get some rest." She collected her tray, not willing to leave it to someone else to take care of, even being sleepy was no excuse. "Will I be missing anything important if I do? I mean - I can stay up if I need to, I'm sure." Terri did her best to brighten, to look like she wasn't lying threw her teeth.

She knew that tone. Flashing him a smile, she relented with little argument. He was very good at playing the tough man - he was the strong, silent type. But Terri could catch the noted of concern in his voice and bobbed her head to him. "Alright Roland - I'll head to bed as soon as I drop off my tray at the counter."
If she saw the looks from the others around them, she ignored them. She knew Roland didn't much care for her irresponsible behavior at the Conventions, but she really didn't want to fight him about it. She gave a little sigh, nodding again as she stepped toward the counter. "I'm sorry, Roland. I didn't mean to worry you. I'll be fine once I get a few hours of sleep." She kept her voice a little low, just so that everyone around them couldn't hear her little apology.

Shaking her head, Terri fell into pace behind the formidable aura of Roland. She paused long enough to set her tray on the return counter so that it could be washed and dealt with but those on mess duty today. She ignored the looks - they were always there around Roland - and waved to the Kitchenlady before jogging out the door after him.
Once in the hall, Terri stepped up along side Roland, falling into a smooth pace. "Twelve? Roland, I would wake up with a headache I slept that long... I never sleep more then like five anyway." She did her best not to whine - she knew how he felt about whining. She gave a sigh as he opened the door, wanting very much to punch him for the smug smile.
Instead, she was a good girl, stepping past him with a nod. Her hip brushed his just a little before he could move completely clear - she didn't notice any reaction tho. "Yes Boss." She knew better then to argue.... once Roland set his mine to something, it was pretty much that track or nothing.
She gave a little yawn, then looked at him again. "If you don't see me by this time tomorrow, you have full permission to take out the door to wake me." Terri's voice had a sleepy giggle to it, her eyes dull just around the edges. She wasn't sure what else to say - her brain wasn't playing fair.

She knew the stern edge to his voice and stopped pushing. She'd set her alarm to wake her in a few hours and see how she felt. If she felt good enough to face the world again - all she'd have to do was dodge Roland for a few hours. Afterall, what would he do, spank her?
She managed a sleepy smile, giving him a little wave of her hand as he muttered at her and pulled the door shut. "I'll sleep - promise. Night Roland." Once it was closed, she rolled her eyes and sighed; sometimes, he just didn't get it. She thought about opening the door and sitting in the common room just to irritate him - but then, probably best not to tempt him to cuff her to something. People would get ideas.
Flipping the lock into place, she turned away from the door. She left her shoes a little from the door, the start of a trail of clothing as she headed into the bathroom. Shower first - then bed. Tribal had been up for almost three days... definitely shower first.
