It’s been a year since Professor Charles Xavier and Jean Gray died in battle. Their grave stones grace the Xavier Institute. Life has gone on. People change, life changes. Human’s know about Mutants and those at the Xavier Institute are working to prove that Mutant’s are just as good as humans, but the Brotherhood isn't helping. More mutant’s than before are coming to the X-men, asking for shelter, help, or just if they can do anything. The brotherhood has a following, becoming more dangerous branching out. A military unit created for and by Mutants has also popped up. Can they all get along?
The Brotherhood has a large following. You remember how power’s were stripped? They are coming back, twice as strong. Magneto is back, with only the X-men to stop him. He and his people are gearing up for a battle. One that Homo Sapiens can’t win. They don’t have the ability to counter the Mutants. Magneto is planning a move on the human Capital, which for the last year was Neutral Ground. He's planning many other things. SHEILD has been notified, and yet it doesn't look like they are gonna help. Will Washington D.C. fall or will someone step in?
A new branch of the military was created. S.M.M.O. or Special Mutant Military Operation. Run by Rogue Eagle. A fiery woman who has good leadership qualities. Because the military realized how useful Mutant’s were, they started a branch for them. Rogue Eagle is training mutants. This started five years ago, but only recently did the president announce this group. They’ve done many covert operations already, many of it classified. Will S.M.M.O. be able to stand alone against the Brotherhood?
James “Logan” Howlett (Aka, Wolverine) has joined the staff at the school, at the request of Storm, the new principal. Rogue’s power’s are back, and she’s twice as strong, almost able to take your powers just by looking at you. Storm has become the principal and everyone’s doing well in the school. The Institute is getting more students, and training more. Teacher’s are arriving including Dr. McCoy to teach the sciences. Will the X-men be able fight the Brotherhood?
Bobby left Rogue for Kitty, leaving Rogue devastated, and yet… there’s more to come. Gambit has joined the X-Men team, and so have many other’s. No one’s sure what’s going to happen in the future. Things are changing quickly. Love is in the air though. Storm has a secret lover, and no one’s sure who he is. McCoy’s got a love (Not just his science things) and again won’t tell. Even Wolverine has been smited, the Rogue Eagle catching his eye, though she doesn’t even seem to notice him. Will the many couples manage to hang through, or will they fall apart?
Recently the X-men and the S.M.M.O. Have started to work together, realizing that they can’t do things alone. The Brotherhood is still larger, and more dangerous. What will happen? Will you join the fight? Will you help the X-men? The brotherhood? It’s all up to you. Welcome to the wild world of Vox Populli. Welcome to the struggle of the Mutants.

Roland was laying on his bed, in the middle of the day, stairing up at the ceiling? Why? No real reason, beyond he was seriously annoyed at himself. He’d blame it on the red hair, but he really couldn’t. Even he knew he could control himself. He hated hard decitions about his love life.
With a swift movement he stood up, big black bat wings appearing out of his back, and he walked out of his room. He nodded to one of the Brotherhood and just wandered. He found himself on the roof. It was noon, so he stood out. But no one stopped him. They wouldn’t dare. He hadn’t been brotherhood for twenty years, and close to Magneto for nothing. At least not in his mind. The tall man stopped by the edge, and leaned on the wall, which came up to about hip hight. He watched the people below him, nodding to those who noticed. He was in a very odd mood.
No… he was not going to think about her. Look birds. Pretty birds… ”Ok if pigeons could be called pretty.” the man muttered as he ran his hand through his gray hair. His right wing moved towards a bird as it tried to land on it. The bird squaked and flapped away. The big wings were just sitting there, moving, and shifing when he did. He thought back to when they’d first appeared. It hadn’t been pretty, though they’d been useful ever since.

It was... an alright day. Terri was sore from her workout the day before; she ached all over. Even her wings ached. She didn't see what she had to spend the time getting beaten up by other members of the Brotherhood - her powers had very little to do with physical fighting. Still, it was part of training, something everyone had to go threw. Didn't mean she liked the aftermath.
She'd spend two hours in the shower, tending her bruises and scrapes. There had been some blood, not too much though. She wasn't going to come right out and say that the boys took pleasure in her pain, but she wasn't gonna deny it either. There WAS a reason she had extra locks on her door - some of the men in the Brotherhood were a few cans short of a six-pack of Dr. Pepper. Not all of them... but some were really spooky.
So she'd pulled the High School trick - playing hookie. She couldn't stay in her room, someone would come looking for her... so, instead, she'd found a nice place to hide on top of one of the Warehouses. She had a couple sodas, some snacks, her PSP and her Ipod; she could hide as long as she needed. Well... at least until after training was over. Very few Mutants in the Brotherhood currently 'flew' so she figured she had a pretty good chance of staying hidden.
Terri had draped out a blanket on the roof and settled in to enjoy the weather. She had one of her headphone earbuds in so she could hear the game she was playing, but wanted to keep a second ear free in cause of the chance she might get spotted. She lifted her head a pigeon took flight from the Dorm Building roof - dumb birds.
Rolling over on her stomach, she kicked her feet up, rocking them slightly so that the heels bounced against her butt as she continued to stalk her targets in 'Assassin's Creed'. She has about a dozen games... more then enough to keep her busy till it was safe to head back to the Barracks. She shivered, looking around for a moment as the wind tossed her flame red hair. She fluttered her wings a little, listening to some men below talking.... soon, their voices faded and she returned to her game.
Maybe she shouldn't be so paranoid. But then... maybe she should assume she was going to get in trouble for missing practice. Setting the PSP down she folded her wings flat and rolled onto her back, setting her heels on the blanket to stop herself. Holding her hand up, she pulled the sleeve back and examined the wonderfully colored bruise along her forearm - you could make out the fingers in the mark, and she had enough scraps and more bruises hidden in her clothing.
No... skipping was good. She preferred not to get broken...

Roland caught sight of something moving on another roof. He dropped down for a second, thinking. His silver hair catching the sunlight. With his mind he felt for it, and found who’s mind it was. Terri’s. She was playing hookie. He sighed and stood up, flapping his wings, and taking off. He landed next to her, ending up on one, knee, not quite judging the landing very well. ”Why are you playing Hookie?” he asked, point blank.
He eyed the food, drinks, and electronic stuff that confused him, around her. She was set for the day if she so chose. ”Shouldn’t you be training?” he asked sitting down, next to her. It was obvious he wasn’t going to force her to go, but he was going to get the why out of her.

Motion caught her attention. Yanking the sleeve down over the bruise on her arm, pushing herself upright as the figure took flight toward her. The wings gave it away - she knew she was busted. She didn't try to hide; it wouldn't do her any good. Pulling her knees up into her chest, she wrapped her arms around them as he landed near her.
She was alittle shocked at the landing, him being on a knee putting him literally at nearly eye level with her. She swallowed sharply, blinking behind the sunglasses at him. "Hum, I, uh..." She wasn't sure what to say. Be honest or lie? Could she LIE to Roland? Terri didn't think she could do it convincingly. Reaching up, she pulled the earbud out and dropped it onto the PSP before pulling the sunglasses off her nose.
Rainbow flexed irises focused on Roland's face for a silent moment, her brain frantically looking for a good excuse. If she said she wasn't feeling well, she'd be sent to the Medical Building; she she just said she didn't want to, he'd make SURE she headed to practice. After a moment, she gave a little sigh.
"I... just needed a break, Roland. They are... um, alot bigger then me." God, what a horrible excuse. She sounded like she'd been caught with her hand in the cookie jar...

Roland watched her face carefully. His blue eyes a bit held back, as if not wanting to fully engage, but only someone who’d known him for a very long time would have known that. He looked into her eyes after a moment. Always changing, never staying the same for very long. His light eyes worried. He waited for a response.
Her response of saying they were bigger bothered him. More than it should. ”Obviously, most of us are.” he said softly, worry. ”did they hurt you?” he didn’t seem to react beyond that. He was thinking though. He touched his hand to his knee, thinking. His other hand went through his hair, making it stick up in odd places, and all in all changing it from its nice combed look.

She bit down on her lip, hard. Dropping her eyes from Roland as he asked. Damn it... she needed better shields or something. Okay, calm calm.... Terri took a few quick breaths, as if she was starting to panic, then beat it down. Fingers curled into the fabric of her elbows as she tried to calm down. "Nothing too bad..."
She was honest. She didn't have any broken bones, afterall. She surprised herself by managing to look back up at his stern blue eyes and gave him a little smile. "Just some bruises and some sore muscles. I'll be okay - just didn't want to add to them today. I woke up sore as heck this morning. I just... didn't want to get tossed around by them today was all."

Roland thought for a moment, still, the black wings fading away. He looked human now. Normal and all. He glanced back up at her. ”They are using superior strength, and not thinking about the consiquenses.” he muttered to himself. He weight the option. But going and hurting those who did it was a bad idea. He knew that. So he controlled himself. And bruses weren’t dehabilitating, now if they’d broken her in some way there would be no control. But he hadn’t helped the brotherhood grown for nothing.
He watched her. ”You aren’t training with them any more. Not sure why your training with people who don’t know how to fight in the first place.” he told her, half distracted.

Terri really did expect him to send her to workout; it was sort like being cause behind the school with Joey Travelers by the Gym teacher when she was in 8th grade. Except that Roland was cuter then Mr. Chesterson and Joey wasn't here. She tried to remain calm, watching his wings vanish - it was a skill she always envied. He could walk around with Normies without worrying about being found out...
"I'm not sure it was that they weren't thinking about the consequences-" The words were low, under her breath, and escaped before she could remind herself that she shouldn't think outloud. She gave a low laugh, nerves getting the better of her. Roland had that effect on her sometimes. Thankfully, he seemed distracted, not paying fully attention, and to her relief didn't ask her to show him the bruises.
Instead, much to her joy, gave her official permission not to have to return to the training with the others downstairs. She gave a little shiver and a sigh of relief, the timid smile from moments before replaced by the real Terri peeking out. "Thanks, Roland... I mean it. I'm sure they didn't do it on purpose, but all the same, I prefer not to be the punching bag." She uncoiled her arms from around her legs, more relaxed it was clear Roland wasn't going to meed out some punishment for her hiding.
Reaching over, she picked up the PSP and dropped it into her grey bag, then stretched her legs back out in front of her. She gave a laugh. "Someone needs to point out to them that beating up the girl is not the way to impress her."

Roland muttered to himself. ”Of course they didn’t. Most of the brotherhood is Thug. Not our fault, we just attract them.” he was a bit bitter about that. He wasn’t a Thug exactly. He was more of a two set kind of guy. He could ‘tank’ as he’d heard the geeks in the place call it, sure he could take damage, and do it well, but he perfered the sneaky, sit in the back and wait for the right moment. Not that he didn’t like action, but sometimes sitting in the back was the excitement, and lately he’d had to. His place had changed. He was no longer the lieutenant that could do what he wanted, he had to think about everyone. He hated it, but he did it well. A few other’s who weren’t thugs had equated him to one of those kings who don’t want to rule, but have to. Sure things had been quiet in the last year, but that was because trying to put out fires was difficult.
He blinked his way back to reality, watching her as she spoke again. He nodded. ”They will be. But don’t think you’ll be getting out of training. There’s a small group of us who train in the evenings, more powerful then the rest, but we actually know how to fight, and the rules are no useage of powers, and go easy until someone has the hang of it. What do you say?” he asked her, his stare probably uncomfortable. He knew better than to just be her trainer. He would NOT be able to control himself, and he’d rather not complicate his life more than it already was.

She really couldn't correct Roland on the Thug thing; some members of the Brotherhood did scare her pretty good. She didn't want to deal with a few of them.... she steered clear of most of the problem members, but sometimes it couldn't be helped. Like training; but normally she managed to avoid getting ruffed up. She was sure it had something to do with the fact she was Roland's 'pet' in a way... that and she could probably beat them to death with their own tattoos.
The thought though of training with Roland's group brought a little shiver. If she got beat down with people that didn't know how to fight, how would she far against people that knew the skill?! Roland worded it as a offer, like it was her choice... she sorta knew better. Tongue darted over her lips, her face paling a little. "Um... okay, I guess. I mean, I really don't know how to fight all that well, Roland. Most of my skills lay in my puppeting - I try to stay out of actual combat most of the time."

Roland could see she didn’t want to do it. ”we’d teach you how to fight. There’s plenty of us who actually know how. It’s a group of the actual teachers. It’s not like we’ are going to force you to go fight, but everyone should know how to. It’s only smart. And we’d wouldn’t hurt you. Which is the thing that shouldn’t happen in training. A few bruses are ok, not a whole lot.” he was muttering to himself, not really making a whole lot of sence, just saying something, of only because he was not able to pay full attention to everything. It was a very distracting to have here there. He looked up at the sky, keeping his eyes on the clouds.

It sounded.. okay, the way Roland put it. Afterall, Roland wouldn't set out to hurt her, right? He'd never done so before, so doubted he planned to start now. Besides - it couldn't be any worse then getting beaten up by the morons downstairs in the gym with their egos and blind swings.
"Okay, Roland - I'll give it a try. I can't promise to be any good, but no harm in giving it a shot right?" She smiled, watching him as his eyes scanned the sky over her. Dropping her head back, she tried to see what he was looking at. Some fluffy clouds... some birds... nothing else. Weird.. she didn't take Roland as a cloudwatcher....

Roland glanced at her, taking in the sight of the sun on her red hair, and her fairy wings. He didn’t even have to think for his own to return. They just sort of snapped back into place. He’d yet to figure out where they went when he willed them away, or forgot about them. Really it was the circumstance. After twenty years he and them had learned to deal with one another, though he still didn’t like landings.
”That’s all I can ask of ya, Terri. I’m guessing you want a few days off though?” he asked, deciding he could look, but no touchy touchy (as he’d been told by multipul women lately.) The tall man moved so his legs weren’t under him, and glanced at her. ”So besides getting away from the thugs down stairs, what brings you up here? I know it’s a nice day, but it’s got to get bad at some point.” he asked, trying to decided if it was time to leave, or if he should stick around. He wanted to stick around. He was seriously wondering if he was obsessed, at least sometimes he asked himself that. But he didn’t think about her ALL the time, just… when he was bored. Or lonely. One of those.

She was just considering dropping over backward and watching the clouds go by when Roland's voice reminded her he was there. Chin dropped back down to center, her speckled eyes meeting his gaze without a care. She gave a little shrug, knowing how Roland looked on idle time. "Well, I mean... a few days might be a little much much; they are only bruises." Big bruises, but she didn't add that part. She really didn't think that Roland needed to know that detail.
She watched him shift, giggling a little at the question. "Other then that? Well... there is the nice fact that other then you and me, there aren't alot of fliers here. Its a nice place to dodge the other members - too high to be seen by most, and high enough that, if I'm quiet, they can't hear me and don't know I up here. I get peace and they don't know it."

Roland gave her a rather amused look, though no smile. ”I never said you’d get out of doing work. I expect you to use the time constructively.” he said with his deadpan look. It was a good thing she didn’t know him as well as say, Magneto. Which he was thankful for. He did NOT like being read like an open book. He figured he’d always been phsycic, but just didn’t know it, because he shielded himself constantly. He didn’t like for his shields to come down. Ever He nodded. Usually all he had to do to get peace was to glare at someone. Then again, you didn’t piss him off. He’d eat you. Or something like that. Mainly it would be a smack to the back of the head, or a growl or something. Though you didn’t fight him in the ring, he was trained to fight, and fight dirty. He shrugged. ”that’s why you glare at people. They tend to leave you alone.”
